Spring Term

This term we have been observing the changes seen in Winter. We loved exploring the snow and ice!

We enjoyed reading 'Stickman' by Julia Donaldson - what a fun story! Although one day he escaped and we had to follow a map of our local area to find out where he had been. We also loved making our very own stick person to take home.

In maths this term we are learning about numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10! We have been practising counting and making amounts to 10 and looking at the parts within each number. We have also been comparing the length and weight of different objects in our classroom.

In RE we have been learning about people who care for us. We really enjoyed role playing a church wedding with our friends!

We love exploring the outside area and learning through our play. Working as a team, sharing ideas with others and solving problems with our friends are just some of the skills we can develop.

Reception love using their bodies to move in different ways. We have really enjoyed our gymnastics unit this term. Check out some of our super balances!

Happy Chinese New Year! We really enjoyed learning all about this special celebration. As part of our learning, we re-enacted the story of the Great Race, made our own stir fry and compared life in China with life here in the UK.

Today we had our Valentine's Fun Day. Throughout the day we completed many exciting activities. We especially enjoyed making and decorating flapjacks and covering ourselves in glitter and paint at the crafting stations! It was lovely for the staff to talk to the children about the people they love and the reasons they are special to them. Reception class love their friends and families very much indeed!
