Primary CAT Awareness Course (12.01.24)

Please find the attached flyer for the Primary CAT Parent Awareness Course which will be delivered online over 5 weeks. The course will take place on Tuesdays from 12:30-2:30 and begins on Tuesday 30^th January.

Details of how parents/carers can book a place are included on the flyer below.

Places fill very quickly and we would kindly ask that you stress that they should not book a place, unless they definitely wish to attend the sessions.

Unfortunately, the course is only available to parents/carers of diagnosed children due to the high demand for spaces.

This is aimed at parents/carers who you feel would benefit from learning more about autism, alongside other parents.

Communication books (14.2.24)

Some of our children, who are mainly non-verbal or have communication difficulties, use communication book to help them to request things they want.

They are:

• A paper based language system.

All books have 'Core Vocabulary' which are the most frequent words we use everyday. They are the most important words to use with your child.

• Each book has the  most common words for your child's level of understanding.

• It also has some words to help them move on to the next level of understanding.

• Books will be personalised to help motivate your child.

• The Books have symbols to support your child to understand the words.

• The colours may also help your child recognise certain types of word e.g. green= action word.

• There are a range of books to support children with lots of different sensory needs too.
