Lent 2023

The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on 22nd February 2023.  Ordinarily we would take the children to church for an Ash Wednesday service and to receive ashes on their foreheads however this year Ash Wednesday falls in our half term holidays. 

The ashes are a reminder that Lent is a season of prayer, penance (saying sorry for our sins) and fasting that prepare us to celebrate Jesus's resurrection on Easter Sunday. Please talk about this with your child and encourage them to make a Lenten promise - this could be to 'give something up' for Lent (and donate the money saved to a charity), or to 'so something extra'.
