Chinese new year
This week Reception have been learning about 'Chinese New Year' and looking at how this is celebrated, why it is celebrated and the importance of this celebration. An area of the EYFS curriculum focuses on ‘recognising that people have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways’. On Thursday and Friday, the children have tasted food and recorded their preferences in a pictogram, made a class Chinese dragon, watched ‘The Great Race’, looked at where China is on our world map and created a simple Chinese dragon dance in PE. Throughout the year we will continue to celebrate and find out more about different festivals celebrated across the world.
