History

This term, our "big question" in History has been - Who was the Greatest Explorer?
We have really enjoyed researching the lives of Neil Armstrong and Christopher Columbus
We have thought about how these explorers are similar, for example they both found New Land and were treated as heroes!

They were also many differences, for example Armstrong travelled by a rocket whilst Columbus travelled in a wooden ship called the Santa Maria.

Over the half term, we created projects based on these explorers. Have a look at our wonderful homework...

Maths

Recently, we have started a new unit of work - Multiplication and division.
We know that equal groups have the same number of objects in each! We are beginning to use the multiplication sign to create number sentences.

Did you know that our multiplication sentences can be switched around - just like our addition sentences so 3 x 4 = 12 can be written as 4 x 3 = 12!

We have been using counters to create arrays and writing the corresponding number sentences.

English

In English, we have been reading a class novel, The Enchanted Wood!
In this story, three siblings, Joe, Beth and Frannie wander into a magical forest and climb the mysterious faraway tree!
They meet many peculiar creatures and travel to distant lands, some of which are very dangerous indeed!

We have been working hard to create a "setting description". We have made sure to use similes and expanded noun phrases to make our writing more exciting for the reader!
