Today we led the whole school in mass in the church. We also invited our families to join us in the celebration of the feast day of St Jonas and St Barachistus. These were Persian brothers who, with nine companions, were martyred for the Catholic Faith.
Upon hearing that several Christians were in trouble, Jonas and Barachistus visited them to encourage and serve them. Nine of the Christians were killed for their faith and received the crown of martyrdom. After their friends’ execution, Jonas and Barachistus were arrested and suffered a series of cruel tortures. Despite this, the two brothers remained strong in faith. Eventually the tortures killed them and they too received the crown of Martyrdom. May we be like them and always be committed in our faith.
