Today, we gathered together in the school hall to lead our first ever mass as Year 1 for our families. The children did exceptionally well in their first mass of the year; reading clearly and praying with great reverence. Our mass celebrated the life Saint Deogratius. As bishop, Deogratius took the brave decision to sell gold, silver, vessels, works of art and ornaments to buy back and rescue a group of slaves who were taken by a group called the Vandals in 439 AD. He provided food and accommodation for these people who had suffered so severely at the hand of slavery. Saint Deogratius teaches us that sometimes we need to make difficult decisions and sacrifices in order to help others in need.
