Understanding the world

To develop your child’s understanding of the world knowledge try some of these activities at home:

  1. Allow your child to model what you do and ask questions e.g. child to model turning the oven on and talk about what happens when food is in the oven
  2. Blowing bubbles
  3. Make pizza or bread for the family to share
  4. Read information books about frogs and chicks
  5. Hunt for bugs in the garden
  6. Use nature detectives for lots of exciting activities to do at home
  7. Planting seeds such as cress- and watching them grow
  8. Observe the weather each day and make a weather chart
  9. Make a family tree- who is in your family

 

Preschool Learn to Dance: Can You Plant a Bean

Use this video to discuss what plants need to grow. Most children will have taken their bean plants home with them. Observe these with your children and fill in the bean diary.

Build a den in the garden for animals.
