Telling the Time
During this term, Year 2 would normally be learning how to tell the time in their Maths lessons. Parents, please spend some time helping your child to tell the time, so that they can stay on track with their learning.
The Year 2 targets for telling the time are:
- Tell and write the time to five minutes, including quarter past/to the hour and draw the hands on a clock face to show these times
- Know the number of minutes in an hour and the number of hours in a day
- Compare and sequence intervals of time (For example, does your child know that 70 minutes is greater than 1 hour?)

White Rose Maths
The White Rose Maths Team has prepared a series of five maths lessons for each year group from Year 1-8. They will be adding five more each week for the next few weeks. Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully. Follow the link below to access the daily lessons for Year 2.
Step 1: Watch the lesson video carefully.
Step 2: Click on 'Get the Activity' to complete the lesson activity. Print the activity sheets if you are able to.
Step 3: Click on 'Get the Answers' and assess your learning.
Step 4: Move onto the next lesson or watch the video again if you need more help.
