Today we welcomed the Reception family members into school for a phonics / reading workshop. Mrs Chandler started with a talk about how phonics is taught in school using the ‘Read, Write Inc’ phonics scheme. During this session, Mrs Chandler discussed and modelled the pronunciation of sounds, how to blend the sounds and activities that parents could support their child with at home. Once this session was finished, the children joined their family members to take part in a variety of phonics activities to give them a taster of what phonics looks like in Reception. There were lots of interactive activities that the children enjoyed showing their family members. It was lovely to receive such positive feedback and we are delighted that you found this session so beneficial.
