How to make reading fun: Change where you read e.g. read in the garden, let your child read receipts from the shop and encourage children to read signs and labels when in the shops or arond the house.
Weekly spelling test - Ask your child if they can read the tricky words then move on to writing them.

The document above has real words and alien words for all sounds in phase 2. This is a brilliant resource to use with your children whilst they are off school. Practise reading the sound itself, read the real words and alien words until your child is confident then move onto the next sound (see below YouTube clip on how to pronounce sounds correctly).
These are some examples of CVC words. Use these words to practice writing sentences e.g. The jam is red.
